As an established researcher, you will have the experience needed to drive and lead a research programme. You will have a track record of managing and training others.
If applying as a lead applicant, you will have a permanent, open-ended or long-term rolling contract.

If you are an established researcher working in any discipline, you can apply for these funding opportunities providing you meet the individual scheme or call’s eligibility criteria. If you are applying to the Discovery Award, the proposed research must align with our strategy.
An established researcher can hold up to two Wellcome awards as a lead applicant – one as a sole applicant and one as a lead applicant for a team, or both as a lead applicant for a team.
