Most of our grantholders get funding from a range of sources during their career, not just from Wellcome.
We also:
- promote research careers and good research practice by influencing and informing policy
- work towards a more diverse and inclusive research culture, including encouraging research across disciplines
- provide researchers with flexible career opportunities, for example when they’ve had a career break or want to work part time
- help researchers become effective and fulfil their potential, for example through mentorship and fellowship meetings.
There are exciting career opportunities in research. Some of today's jobs – for example in health informatics, advanced brain imaging and computational biology – didn’t exist five years ago.
As careers in research continue to change, researchers will remain at the heart of our strategy.
