Professor Jan Holmgren is a doctor and professor of medical microbiology and immunology at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. He has researched cholera since the 1970s and developed Dukoral, the world's first effective oral cholera vaccine. He is currently working on developing a new, third-generation cholera vaccine, DuoChol, with funding from Wellcome.
